Who is Richard J. Fallquist?

Richard Fallquist is President of Fallquist Actuaries, Incorporated of Seattle, Washington. The firm was created to provide independent property/casualty actuarial consulting services to a variety of clients.

Richard has 27 years of experience consulting with property/casualty insurers and self-insureds. He is the creator and developer of the loss reserving software—Exhibitmaker™,Exhibitmaker Plus and Exhibitmaker 5—a product of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he was formerly a partner. The product has since been upgraded and was renamed ReservePro™.

Prior consulting experience includes serving twice as a partner at accounting firms Ernst & Young LLP (1991-1994) and Coopers & Lybrand LLP (1981-1991), and as consulting actuary at Milliman & Robertson, Inc (1973-1980). He also worked for SAFECO and theTravelers Insurance Companies.

Richard has significant experience in managing consulting engagements. He has served numerous clients in all lines of business. His experience includes loss reserving and ratemaking in personal and commercial lines, analysis of excess loss and reinsurance costs, financial analysis, expert testimony, feasibility studies and management consulting. He has significant experience in commercial lines, such as workers' compensation, and general and professional liability.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Richard is a past member of the American Academy of Actuaries’ Casualty Practices Council and has served on the Planning Committee of the Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar. He was an organizer and was Founding President of Casualty Actuaries of the Northwest. He is a member of the Seattle Actuarial Club. He has served on various professional and industry committees. He has given loss reserving seminars and is the author of 5 papers.
